BYE-SON (BISON)
This short film was born from the simplest of inspirations - a dad joke. The visual approach was built around a deliberately playful aesthetic, using primitive shapes to construct the characters and forms, creating an almost collage-like quality in the design. Photo textures were then applied to various elements to reinforce and deepen that collage effect, adding a tactile, handcrafted feel to the animation.
The goal was to find charm in simplicity, letting the concept and humour lead whilst keeping the visual language clean, bold, and characterful throughout.

Knowing the plan was to implement real world textures, a moodboard was created to explore different ways this could be achieved. In the end, these textures were only used sparingly but they do give an extra layer of interest. This was also a great starting point for choosing colours.
